Dr Ella Seccombe

Dr Ella Seccombe is a Consultant Dermatologist at University Hospitals Southampton NHS Trust.  She consults privately in Southampton, at The Spire Hospital and in Winchester, at Sarum Road Hospital and Healthshare Winchester Clinic.

She sees patients with all general skin conditions including acne, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema, hair and nail disease including hair loss, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) as well as benign and cancerous skin lesions and sun damage.  She also performs skin surgery for benign and malignant skin growths.

Her interest is paediatric dermatology.  This includes the diagnosis and treatment of eczema, acne, strawberry birthmarks (haemangiomas) as well as inflammatory rashes.

Training

Dr Seccombe graduated from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ school of medicine with distinction in clinical sciences and special study modules.  She completed an intercalated Batchelor of Science degree in Psychology, gaining a 2:1 degree.

After qualifying, she initially worked as a junior doctor in London and on the South Coast, before moving to the Wessex region , where she undertook specialist training in Dermatology. 

She was appointed Consultant Dermatologist at University Hospitals Southampton NHS Trust in January 2020.

In 2024 Dr Seccombe was made a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.

 

Clinic

In her NHS practice, Dr Seccombe’s role includes general dermatology, skin cancer and skin surgery and a weekly paediatric dermatology clinic. She is a member of the skin cancer multidisciplinary team. 

In addition to her clinical work, she is the Postgraduate Education lead and the Junior Doctor lead Consultant in Dermatology.  She is keenly involved in medical student, junior doctor and GP teaching and is an Educational Supervisor of current Dermatology Specialist Registrars.

Personal information

Dr Ella enjoys spending time with her young family and pet Goldendoodle. When she gets the chance, she likes to go for a run, play tennis and spend time with friends.  She is also an avid reader of fiction and the member of a lively book club.
